The Coventry Community Cohesion Awards were officially launched at the Annual Coventry Partnership Conference at the Ricoh Arena Community Space on Thursady 3rd December.

The awards are designed to celebrate the work of local people in helping to make Coventry a cohesive City. We are looking to recognise practical activities which demonstrate how you've achieved cohesion across different communities, groups, faiths, age groups, and people from different backgrounds, ethnicity and disabilities. It is also an opportunity to share any difficulties you have experienced and how these have been overcome.

The Community Based Champions Project

The Community Based Champions Project is funded through the Department for Communities and Local Government's Migration Impact Fund and managed by Voluntary Action Coventry on behalf of the Coventry Partnership:

Community Based Champions

The project recognises that Migrants often experience difficulties in approaching mainstream services without signification support form trusted people. The project aims to recruit volunteers, train them to become Community Based Champions and pass on knowledge about local services to their community members.

Community Based Champions receive:

  • Training on a range of issues including housing, benefits, health , employment, education, police, environment, community safety, community cohesion and safeguarding children;
  • Reference and work experience;
  • Increased skills and confidence;
  • Knowledge around local services.
