The Coventry Communications Group

New pop-up banner COmmunications Group

For the first time, the Coventry Partnership's Communications Group brings together communication officers and managers from across the city.

It acts on behalf of the Coventry Partnership to facilitate and encourage co-ordination of communications across the city.

The group provides the opportunity for communication professionals from a broad range of organisations to share expertise and good practice.

It promotes a shared understanding across all organisations of the range of communication issues and provides an opportunity for a co-ordinated approach to communications across all organisations and the improved communication of key messages across the city.

The Communications Group is chaired by Tim Coleman, the Coventry Partnership’s Communications Officer. The group meets on a bi-monthly basis but regularly evaluates and reviews its purpose.

COMMUNICATIONS PLAN FOR THE PARTNERSHIP 2009

The purpose of the campaign is to stress the importance of the Coventry Partnership, what it is, and what it does and how it relates to the SCS, LAA indicators and the forthcoming Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA). So it's in essence a reassurance and profile-raising campaign in order to look at both the strengths of the current Partnership and where it plans to go over the next 12 months.

Partner members are to be reminded of its importance and that by working together, tangible results can be achieved which are greater than the sum of the parts. The Coventry Partnership is there to close the gap, raise the game, enhance services and see better use of resources, thus giving value for money.
Under this context, there will be 4 key activity strands of the campaign:

1. A revision of the Coventry Partnership Communications strategy, to be executed through the Communications Group.

a. This will also require a revision of the Communications Group Terms of reference in line with recent input from Operations Group and Partnership Manager

b. The revised Partnership Communications Strategy will enable a strengthening of Partnership relationships and focus for members, facilitated by a new performance management framework and 12-month action plan.

c. Activities below will fit within this 12 month action plan. The Communications Group will work towards shared activity under the thematic groups for the benefit of the city.

d. Support for partner member chief executives and their own communications officers with regard to Partnership activity/information.

e. Re-vitalised Partnership Powerpoint templates and associated marketing materials (to be approved by the Board on 8th January 2009).

2. Demonstration of the benefits of Partnership working.

a. Creating a short promotional film (produced by Central Vision TV) to be shown at Partnership Board, on partner plasma screens and placed on the Partnership website to demonstrate vision for Coventry, a contemporary view of Coventry, a profile of the chair of Coventry Partnership and some examples of Partnership activity involving the RA's

b. A scrap book of Partnership activity over the last year as seen through local press coverage, to be used for viewing at Partnership meetings.

c. Pop-up banners demonstrating existing Partnership activity strengths and some of the planned activity of its 12 month action plan, to be shown at Partnership meetings.

3. An SCS Executive summary brochure for external distribution to key partners with key messages of the SCS (to also be aimed at the business community).

4. Demonstration of LAA activity which fits within each thematic group.
a. This will take the form of monthly highlights of thematic activity during 2009 for both the local press and on the Partnership website in a coordinated strategy which fits with CCC Cabinet action plans and in an order which follows naturally across the calendar year.

b. This will be supported by Coventry City Council with articles in Citivision.

There is also a new powerpoint template to be used for presentations by partners.
