Neighbourhood Renewal Fund - making a difference

Coventry Partnership and NRF logoOver the past five years Coventry has been awarded more than £32 million of grant funding from central government's Neighbourhood Renewal Fund (NRF).

This funding has enabled work to sustain the rate of change within the priority neighbourhoods, create brighter futures and to make a positive difference to the people who live and work here.

Specifically, NRF aims to narrow the gap between priority neighbourhoods and communities and other areas of Coventry. NRF is also about 'kick-starting' new initiatives and the aim is to continue the good practice set by these initiatives beyond NRF funding.

In Coventry, the decisions about how NRF is spent to bring about these improvements are made by the Coventry Partnership. This brings together more than 30 partner organisations from the public, private, community and voluntary sectors which then together agree priorities for Coventry in the city's Community Plan.

The most recent phase of NRF saw Coventry being awarded £10.6 million to be spent between 2006 and 2008. During this time a total of 43 projects will be delivered ranging from £7,000 to £1.15 million. These projects report back to the Coventry Partnership and link into strategic themes identified in the Community Plan.
